Hi kids, it's been awhile!
It'll probably be a little while longer too, since I have to put a magazine out this week and work on making sure I graduate here on May 3rd. Please don't miss me too badly, or give up on us here at FF&THTRB. The boys will pick up my slack (AHEM), and then things will be back to their normal routine in two to three weeks.
So, the evil Yankee "Empire" went into a tizzy this week because some smart-ass Red Sox fan, who just so happened to be a construction worker on the House That Ruth's Merchandising Efforts Has Helped to Build, managed to bury a David Ortiz jersey under two feet of concrete foundation somewhere along a service corridor.
Instead of laughing the whole thing off and insisting that there is no such thing as jinxes or curses, like they have for 80-some-odd years or so, the Yankees organization FREAKED out. They just HAD to get that jersey out of their stadium. Even though it took forever to find it-- and they had to dig up two feet of concrete just to get to it-- that jersey was not going to stay buried in their new house. No sir, the Red Sox were not going to curse them, no way.
Which is ridiculous. I can only see it as a sign of the raging helplessness that has descended upon the once-mighty Yankees and has driven them to depths of desperation no one in their right mind could think they could achieve. Honestly, it's a piece of fabric. Probably manufactured in China. And although David Ortiz has pretty much owned Yankees pitching in the past couple of years, a piece of colored fabric bearing his name is NOT going to change that.
A new team of fresh talent will. Something the Yankees aren't really looking at right now, and will probably occur slowly until the Boss manages to finally keel over or let someone who knows how to play the game finally run his team. Until then, the Yanks are going to keep grasping at useless threads and pointing fingers at everyone who is to blame for their failures except for the people who actually are the most responsible.
Themselves.
